Only a few actors manage leave an impression after a handful of films, but birthday girl Sonakshi Sinha sure makes it look easy. As this Shotgun junior turns 26 on June 2, we take you through Sonakshi's Bollywood journey so far...
Dabangg debut - Salman Khan identified the potential in Shatrughan Sinha's overweight daughter and made her shed 30 kilos. It was only after rigorous exercise sessions did the beautiful Sonakshi Sinha we know and love make her onscreen debut with 'Dabangg'. An out and out Salman flick, Sona's desi girl charm and 'thappad se darr nahi lagta sahab' dialogue marked a successful start to her Bollywood journey
Casting (c)ouch!- After a successful 'Dabangg' entry into Bolywood in 2010, Sonakshi waited for two years to come again on screen this time with Akshay Kumar in 'Rowdy Rathore'. Her pairing opposite actors double her age became the talk of tinsel town (Joker, Son Of Sardaar, Dabangg 2)
Weight issues- Even after shedding all that fat, weight issues never abandoned Sonakshi as her large frame and hence, choices of clothes onscreen were under constant scrutiny. Even her pairing opposite Ranveer Singh in 'Lootera' had a lot of skeptics saying she would look older to him on screen, but this was before she stunned us with the film's tralier.
100 crore heroine- Irrespective of critics' response to the kind of formula films she is associated with, Sonakshi has proved to be one lucky mascot for most of her filmmakers, with her movies invariably crossing the 100 crore hurdle. While 'Son Of Sardaar' and 'Rowdy Rathore' touched the coveted 100 crore title, 'Dabangg' and 'Dabangg 2' went as far to make Rs 200 crore.
Link-ups - You're only as successful as the number of link-ups you've had in Bollywood, but Sonakshi has so far maintained a clean image. She however admitted to being attracted to Ranveer Singh on a popular chat show some time back but his fascination with Deepika Padukone pushed aside a chance of a romance between these two.
Upcoming films- With upcoming films like 'Lootera', 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again', 'Bullet Raja' and 'Rambo Rajkumar' expected to release this year, Sonakshi's Bollywood journey is bound to take to new heights! We wish her a very happy birthday!
